Kate Handy
Therapist
Hi, I'm Kate, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My focus is to help individuals strengthen themselves and heal, whether that means enhancing their overall healthy lifestyle or rebuilding themselves after feeling broken. My approach is to first understand each person's hopes, strengths, and areas of growth, and then to use researched and validated treatment methods, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy, to help them achieve their goals. I see each person as a unique individual, with their own struggles, strengths, and resources that can contribute to their growth and healing. By establishing honest and connected relationships with my clients, we can explore and discover solutions to difficulties that have been impacting their lives.
In my work, I believe that a key component of the therapeutic relationship is for the therapist to respect and understand each person and respond to them with honesty and authenticity. I find something to admire in everyone I work with and feel that understanding people's resilience and bravery is awe-inspiring. I also believe that all individuals ultimately want to be good to themselves and others, and this belief plays a significant role in my work.
Outside of my role as a therapist, I am a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. However, I love being a therapist because I enjoy seeing people grow and discover new ways of living and being that bring joy, peace, freedom, and satisfaction to their lives.
